Abstract
Objective To evaluate different maternal weight gain during pregnancy in normal birth weight in order to provide a reasonable advice in gestational weight gain. Methods Women were divided into 3 groups according to their prepregnancy body mass index (BMI).Different weight gain during pregnancy were compared among three groups. Results The mean weight gain during pregnancy were (16 15±3 99) kg,(15 72±4 42) kg and (13 22±4 29) kg in low weight,ideal weight and high weight before pregnancy respectively.The weight gain during pregnancy in pre pregnancy low weight and ideal weight groups were higher than that in pre pregnancy with high weight group (P0 01).Weight gain was higher during second trimester than that during third trimester. Conclusion The result suggested that the gestational weight gain in low weight before pregnancy were related to normal fetal birth weight.
