Research review of axiomatic design in product design

Design theory and method which is the fundament and foundation of product innovation design plays a very important role in product design and development.Among the numerous design theories and methods,axiomatic design(AD) is one of the hotspot in product design methodology at present.On the basis of the related AD concept description,the specific applications of two design axioms are summed up;the applications of AD in various design stages as the requirement analyses,concept design,design decisions and process design are summarized;the integrated researches of AD with QFD,TRIZ,DSM,modular design,innovative design,concurrent design,optimization design,reliability design,robust design and other design theories and methods are reviewed,as well as the deep analyses are launched.Finally,the advantages and disadvantages of AD are stated and the future development trend of AD in product design is outlooked.
