Problems in Groundwater Exploitation and Utilization in Shanxi Province and Countermeasures

Abstract
Water resources shortage and groundwater overmining are serious in Shanxi Province. Analyzed are the amount of groundwater resources and recoverable reserve, the history and present situation of groundwater exploitation and utilization, and the environmental and geological problems caused by groundwater overmining. Based on the analysis, some suggestions are proposed for reduction of groundwater overmining, and reasonable exploitation and utilization of groundwater, providing a scientific basis for the strengthening of groundwater protection and management.
