Observation on effect of pravastatin on chronic heart flailure

Abstract

Objective To investigate the change of cardiac function in the patients with chronic heart failure(CHF) after pravastatin treatment.Methods 130 patients with CHF were randomly divided into two groups:pravastatin group(75patients)and control group(55 patients).The patients in the pravastatin group were given pravastatin 20mg/d for 6-month besides conventional therapy.Echocardiographic indices were evaluated before and after 6-month therapy.Results Pravastatin significantly decreased LV diastolic dimensions and increased LV ejection fraction as well as NYHA stage significantly improved,compared with the control group.No event on liver and kidney dysfunction was noticed.Cremained unchanged 6 months post therapy.Conclusion Pravastatin may improve cardiac function and improve left ventricular remodeling in the patients with CHF.
