Metropolitan Depression and Imagination: Dai Wangshu's Emotional Life and His Poetic Creation

Abstract

Different characters and ideas of life lead to Dai Wangshu's failure in marriage and love, while his emotional tragedy inevitably brings about modern metropolitan flashy color and lonely and depressed emotions' in Dai Wangshu's poems. Lilac and rose, night and dream are two groups of representative images in Dai Wangshu's poems. The former stands for depressed love, whereas the latter symbolizes lonely life experiences in the flashy metropolis.
