Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of sertraline combined with cognitive therapy in treatment of patients with depression. Methods Eighty outpatients were randomly assigned to receiving cognitive therapy plus sertraline(n=40)and only receiving sertraline(n=40)for 6 weeks. The efficacy was assessed with Hanmilton depressive scale(HAMD)and self-rating depressive scale(SDS)before and after treatment in 2nd,4th and 6th weekend. Results At the end of 4th and 6th weekend,SDS and HAMD scores of patients in cognitive therapy group decreased significantly than those before treatment, and their SDS and HAMD scores were significantly lowered than those of sertraline group. Conclusion It is suggested that sertraline combined with cognitive therapy may be a better measure for treatment of depression.
