Abstract
Purpose To explore the MRI method of membraneous labyrinth of inner ear, for establishing MRI measurement criterion of it. Methods MR scans of inner ears were performed in 35 subjects with a standard head coil on a 1.5-T MR unit (Magnetom Vision; Siemens,). A T2* weighted 3DFT-CISS sequence(Three-Dimensional Fourier Transform-Constructive Interference in Stead State) were used in all receptors.3D imaging of inner ear was directly synthesized from 2D images with multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) and maximum intensity projection (MIP) technique. Results Anatomical structures of internal auditory canal(IAC) and membraneous labyrinth were well demonstrated in all cases. The VII and VIII cranial nerves could seen on raw data and the MPR image; The MIP image displayed the minute structures of IAC and membraneous labyrinth stereoscopicall, but isn't showed the VII and VIII cranial nerves. The diameters of semicircular ducts was 1.00~1.33mm. The size of vestibule was 3.07~3.33mm. The diameters of cochlear basement and duct were 6.41~7.02mm and 4.19~4.64mm, respectively. Conclusion 3DFT-CISS MRI is a valuably diagnostic tool in the evaluation of inner ear anatomy.
