Abstract
The white rot fungi Phanerochaete chrysosporium can effectively degrade many kinds of organic pollutants, which makes them a useful strain in wastewater treatment. The degradation depends on ligninolytic enzymes, which is mainly composed of lignin peroxidase, manganese peroxidase. This paper introduces the degrading mechanism of this rungus and reviewed the progress in its utilization in industial wastewater treatment, especially pulp-paper mill effluent and dyeing effluent.
