Abstract

The cracked connecting rod in the diesel generator which had worked for 7200 h was studied by fracture observation, chemical composition analysis, microstructure and mechanical properties tests. The results show that the fatigue fracture is the main cause of fracture failure for the connecting rod.The folded crack should be result from the fracture failure.
