A DISCUSSION ON RESTORATION AND REHABILITATION OBJECTIVES OF ROCKY DESERTIFICATION LAND IN SOUTHWEST KARST REGION OF CHINA

Based on the current trends of restoration ecology and the actualities of comprehensive control of karst mountain areas in southwest China, the restoration and rehabilitation objectives at different spatial scale and different phases, vegetation ecological construction objectives, community and culture construction objectives and benefit objectives are discussed in this paper. The essential to prevent and cure rocky desertification is not merely the water and soil conservation and vegetation restoration, only the harmony of environmental restoration, economic development and social progress, the enhancement of ecological construction and the wealth of peasantry are realized jointly can rocky desertification be controlled completely. Therefore, for drawing the comprehensive objectives of rocky desertification control in the near future the resources and environment superiority should be combined with market, the model of helping the poor be turned into that of enhancing the living quality, single sloping field terracing be turned into multiform agriculture with distinguishing features, the defence model be turned into development model, and government domination be turned into people's participation, and all those are to break the vicious circle of land degradation in fragile karst eco-environment.
