Abstract
AIM: To study the expression and significance of Pgp in wilms' tumor and medulloblastoma. METHODS: Pgp was detected in 46 cases with wilms' tumor and 25 cases with medulloblastomas in children by SABC immuohistochemical methods. RESULTS: 7(15.2%) cases with wilms' tumors were Pgp positive while 11( 44.0%) cases with medulloblastomas were Pgp positive. Statistical analysis revealed that expression of Pgp was significantly correlated with chemotherapy and NWTS Ⅱ classification of nephroblastoma( P 0.05), but there was no correlationship between expression of Pgp and NWTS Ⅲ clinical pathological stages of nephroblastomsas ( P 0.05). There was not correlationship between the expression of Pgp and clinical pathological classification of medulloblastomas ( P 0.05). CONCLUSION: Expression of Pgp,which could be induced and promoted by chemotherapy, may be an important parameter in the evaluation of malignance and prognosis of wilms' tumor. There was no correlationship between the expression of Pgp and clinical pathological classification of medulloblastomas.
