Abstract

Objective To survey the prevalence of anemia in floating preschool children in Shenzehn. Methods Totally 521 floating preschool infants under age of 6 years in nurseries and kindergardens in Shenzhen were chosen as observation group and another 500 infants of the same age in the same nursearies and kndergardens were taken as control. The content of hemoglobin in both groups were determined and compared. Results Among the 521 infants infants anemia occurred to 89 of them with an anemia with an anemia incidence rate of 17.08%,and the incidence rate of anemia increased along wide with the increase of age.The anemia incidence rate was,the highest in the age group of 3-5 years(29.53%) without significant differ ence between genders. While the anemia incidence rate in the infants of control group was 6.2% showing significant statistical ly difference as compared to those of the observation group(χ2=32.23,P0.01).Conclusion The incidence rate of floating preschool infants was higher than that of non-floating infants. Thus effective intervention measures be formulated to take care of the floating preschool infants.and reduce the anemia incidence.
