Abstract
Soybean(Jindou 19) seed germinability, soluble sugar, malondialdehyde(MDA),lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzyme were tested under 40℃ and 100% relative humidity artificial aging conditions. The results showed that seed germinability, peroxidase(POD),and glutathione reductase(GR) activities decreased with aging time when seeds were exposed to the aging treatments. On the other hand, electrical conductivity, soluble sugar,MDA,Cu/Zn and total superoxide dismutase(SOD) levels increased with aging. The irregular trends were found in variations of Mn-SOD and catalase activities with aggravated aging condition. The correlation coefficients between the seed activity and other tested indices, were significant. For evaluating the soybean seed storability by this aging method the most appropriate aging duration was 36~60h.As the changes of MDA、POD and GR were coincident with the germination performance, these sensitive indices could be used for monitoring the status of soybean seed deterioration.
