Abstract

Effects of 6 ℃ treatment over night(19∶00~7∶00),the first half of the night(19∶00~0∶30)and the second half of the night(1∶30~7∶00) for 7 days on sucrose metabolism in Lycopersicon esculentum Mill leaves were studied using 15 ℃ as the control. The results were as follows, under low night temperature, contents of fructose, glucose, sucrose and starch were increased, the activity of AI(Acid invertase) and NI(Neutral invertase) was increased, the activity of SS(Sucrose synthase) and SPS(Sucrose phosphate synthase) was decreased. The effect on sucrose metabolism in L.esculentum was the most significant in the low temperature treatment overnight, followed by that in the first half of the night and in the second half of the night.
