Abstract
A simple and sensitive kinetic catalytic spetrophotometic method is reported for the determination of trace amount of formaldehyde based on the catalytic effect of formaldehyde on the oxidation of acid chrome blue K with potassium bromate in sulfuric acid media.Formaldehyde in the range of 0.6~3.4mg·L-1can be determined with a limit of detection of 3.0×10-3 mg·L-1.The method has been used to determine trace formaldehyde in wastewater.The results thus show good agreement with those determined by acetyl actone method.
