Development of a New Cucumber Cultivar,Dongfangmingzhu

Through the collection of more than 100 cucumber germplasm,crossing,selection of single plant in the separating generation,line 70 and 71 were gotten with high resistance of to low temperature and low light,high yield,high resistance of diseases.Through the determination of combining ability and variety comparison test,and regional testing and production test in Hubei Province,a new cultivar-Dongfangmingzhu was developed.It is not sensitive to temperature,can be cultivated in high temperature or low temperature,has high resistance to disease,high and stable yield.Its plants is vigours,and the main vine bear fruit,the first female flower is on the 4-5 node,the fruit is longclaviform of about 33 cm long,200 g weight.The fruit handle is 5.6 cm long,fruit skin is dark green,has obviously tumor,white thorn,the pulp is crisp and sweet without bitterness.It is suitable for the protected field in early spring and the spring and autumn open field cultivation.
