Thermodynamics of the present process for removal of Fe~(2+) from MnSO_4 solution was calculated. Reasons for excessive consumption of pyrolusite and low-efficient removal of Fe~(2+) in the present process were investigated. By improving the oxidization process, the efficiency of removal of Fe~(2+) from MnSO_4 solution by pyrolusite increases by 50%.
