Abstract
A framework of distributed processing system for remote sensing images was proposed by integrating the workflow and implementation technology and the open geospatial consortium Web process service(OGC WPS) specification in order to enhance the capability of geospatial information sharing and interoperation in Web.All image acquisition and processing functions were packaged as Web services. The complex processing was implemented by using a chain of Web services-based geospatial processing functions.A web-based prototype system for extracting water information from remote sensing images was constructed for validating the framework.Experimental results indicated that the prototype system can access data and extract water information under distributed environment. The system showed the ability of organizing and executing a designed service chain, the independence of platforms and programming languages, and the compliance with OGC specifications.
