Study on the Evaluation of Scientific Research Efficiency of Universities Directly Under the Ministry of Education

Abstract

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is employed to evaluate scientific research efficiency of 48 universities directly under the Ministry of Education. The result of data analysis indicates that 27 universities fall into those with DEA inefficiency. Based on the above, reasons for low efficiency in some universities are dealt with and some specific measures to improve efficiency in some inefficient universities are put forward in respect with input and output.
