Application of intraoperative MRI combined with neuronavigation to intracranial microsurgery

Abstract

Objective To explore the application of intraoperative MRI to correcting the drifting of the neuronavigation under a microscope when intracranial microsurgery is performed.Methods The clinical data of 113 patients with intracraional lesions whou nderwent intracranial microsurgery assisted with intraoperative MRI combined with neuronavigation were analyzed retrospectively.Of 113 patients,76 kept supine position,and 37 prone position during the microsurgery.The drifting during the neuronavigation wasc orrected by the image acquired from the intraoperative MR rescanning.Results The accuracy of the neuronavigation was attained in 76 patients and the drifting during the neuronavigation was corrected by intraoperative MRI in 27 patients.The neuronavigation was nots uccessful in 10 patients.Conclusions The use of intraoperative MRI may effectively correct the drifting of the navigation,and increaset he accuracy of the neuronavigation during the microsurgery for the intracranial lesions.
