Abstract
The chief problem in the study and application of GIS is the quality of GIS data. The measurement error of GIS data has become the hotspot in the research field. The existing models of spot, line and surface in map are the testing model after the spatial data have been collected. However, in the practice of GIS, data resource is chosen according to the precision provided by GIS user, namely, a limited range of error is required first of all, it is required to analyze the source of the error of spatial data in GIS. Map is the major source of error in GIS. The error is related to the scale, generalization and graphics of map. It is necessary to take them into account comprehensively when we choose the data source of GIS.
