Abstract

The tire contact pressure distribution is very different with variety of load,tire air pressure,tread pattern and age of tire. In this paper,a measuring device has been developed and used to measure the tire contact pressure distribution of light vehicle with different tires of different tread pattern and different age, air pressure and different tire load.The test results show that the contact shape between tire and road surface is similar to a rectangle,the pressure caused by new tire is more uniform than that caused by old tire and that the relationship between tire air pressure and average contact pressure,between tire load and average contact pressure andtire load are all linear.
