Abstract
Based on the 2004 Quick Bird satellite image as the main data source,supplemented with 2007 data from Google Earth satellite images,under the support of GIS,and the gradient analysis in combination with landscape indices was made to study the characteristics of gradient change along the transect of urban green space in Hohhot City.For the urban planning department providing a basis to conduct macro-control,make scientific decision,improve urban environmental quality.The result is:At the class level,the different types of green space along the transect showed obvious gradient characteristics.Park was a larger proportion of green space in urban centers,while the suburban has a high proportion of other green;living green and unit green space in urban areas have a higher degree of fragmentation,spatial heterogeneity was high.At landscape level,different landscape indices along the transect showed their respective gradient characteristics,patch density,landscape shape index,landscape richness density have obvious gradient features,but diversity index,evenness index and the aggregation index was not significant.Which can be drawn,in the city center,the diversity of the green space was low,no dominant types,aggregation index was the lowest;at the suburbs,the diversity of the green space was increased,the aggregation index was increased too.
