Abstract

An experimental study was carried out to investigate the purification capacity for eutrophicated water with macrophytes. The results of the 60 days experiment showed that both submersed macrophytes(Hydrilla verticillata,Potamogeton malaianus and Vallisneria natans) and floating-leaved macrophytes(Nymphoides indica and Trapa quadrispinosa)had very high removal rates for TN,TP,NO_3~——N and PO_4~——P,and the values exceeded 60%,but Potamogeton malaianus and Vallisneria natans were most effective at removing nutrients, and the removal rates were above 80%.
