Anatomy of Criticism by Northrop Frye is regarded as the classics of archetypal criticism, which, however, does not exhausts its value, because Frye intends not a certain school of criticism.Actually,he attempts to,with the archetype criticism at the heart, establish an open but comprehensive cultural criticism, which is independent of other disciplines while transcending the differences among various schools.Although his effort may not be very successful, his purpose and perspective should not be neglected.
