Abstract
Objective To explore the distribution of patients with comcomitant esotropia.Design Retrospective case series. Participants 586 patients with concomitant esotropia. Methods Statistical analysis was performed on 586 patients with concomitant esotropia about the distribution of concomitant esotropia, visual acuity and esotropia deviations.Main Outcome Measures Distribution of concomitant esotropia, uncorrected and corrected visions,AC/A ratio and esotropia deviations. Results 586 patients with concomitant esotropia were analysed retrospectively:72 patients(12.29%)with congenital esotropia;65 patients(11.09%)with nonrefractive accommodative esotropia;55 patients(9.39%)with partially accommodative esotropia;189 patients(32.25%)with nonaccommodative esotropia;79 patients(13.48%)with sensory esotropia;24 patients(4.10%)with consecutive esotropia;41 patients(7.00%)with residual exotropia;55 patients(9.39%)combined with nonconcomitant vertical strabismus;6 patients(1.02%)with acute concomitant esotropia. 77.78% of congenital esotropia,59.49% of sensory esotropia and 52.91% of nonaccommodative esotropia were large angle esotropia(60~Δ). The deviations were less than 40~Δin 60.98% of residual esotropia ann 75.00% of consecutive esotropia.Visual acuity and corrected vision≥0.9 was 62.26% in all concomitant esotropia except fur sensory esotropia.357 patients(60.92%)had ametropia, among them 257 patients(71.99%)were hypermetropic. Conclusions Nonaccommodative esntropia is the largest group in concomitant esotropia underwent surgery. The angle of congenital esotropia amt sensory esotropia is larger than other concomitant esotropia notablely. Ametropia in concomitant esotropia patients are hypermetropia mainly.(Ophthalmol CHN,2008,17:130-133)
