Abstract
Thirty nine cases of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with their pericarcinomous tissues(PT) were studied immunohistochemically by using monoclonal antibodies PC10 to proliferating cell nuclearantigen(PCNA).The results showed that the PCNA positive rate of HCCs was very significantly higherthan that of PT,The lower the differentiation of HCC,the higher the PCNA positive rate. Among variouslesions of PT,small cell liver cell dysplasia was the highest one in PCNA positivity, The ratio of PCNApositivity to mototic figures in HCCs was 21: 1,but in erythroblasts of fetal liver(controls),it was 11:1.The latter was more approximate to the theoretical value,We suggested that this was due to endoreduplica-tion fo DNA in HCC cells. So,PCNA might be of practical use on the evaluation of the proliferation ofHCC.
