New Perspective on Postgraduate Education

Abstract

“To train what type of students” and “how to train postgraduate students” are two fundamental issues in postgraduate education. This study proposes to classify postgraduate education into six models according to status and functions of different stakeholders: they are postgraduate education led by the government, institution (the institutions that provide postgraduate education), supervisor, student, and employer. The study evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of each model in order to inform institutional choices.
