Abstract

Curved girder bridge is an important bridge type in modern traffic engineering.Free vibration and seismic response feature of curved girder bridge is different from that of straight girder bridge. In this article, finite element method is used for comparative analysis in the respect of free vibration and seismic response feature between curved girder bridge and straight girder bridge. It is found that torsional modes' frequencies of curved girder bridge are greater than that of straight girder bridge.Under earthquake, superstructure's internal force of curved girder bridge is almost the same with that of straight girder bridge, the vertical support reaction of curved girder bridge is less than that of straight girder bridge, and the horizontal support shear force of curved girder bridge is greater than that of straight girder bridge. Therefore, the superstructure of the curved girder bridge can be designed as straight bridge in seismic design. However, the support shear force of curved girder bridge should be calculated accurately, and appropriate measures should be taken according to the support shear force.
