Abstract
A model based on the lumped parameter method was developed for engine thermal balance.Engine combustion chamber heat transfer,major engine component heat transfer,cooling system,lubricating system were included.The heat coupling between the combustion gas and engine parts,one part and other parts,parts and coolant,parts and lubricant,parts and air were formulated.An example simulation was implemented for a single cylinder diesel engine.The results show that this model can be used for studying thermal balance.
