Study on Value and Sustainable Development of Natural Heritage Sites in North China Karst——A Case of Karst Caves in Beijing

Abstract

Beijing karst represented one of the Chinese most spectacular examples of temperate zone karst landscapes.This paper analyzed the characteristics of the typical karst caves(Shihua Cave,Silver Fox Cave,Cloud Cave and Jingdong Great Stalactite Cave) in Beijng and compared them with similar karst caves in the world,which were enlisted in world natural heritage list.Then,the paper made further discussion of the value of karst caves in Beijing area,and pointed out the existing problems.After this,this paper proposed relevant conservation approaches so as to promote the sustainable development of the world heritage.
