Advances in Study on OrthoKeratology in the Treatment of Myopia

Objective To discuss the rule of OrthoKeratology in the treatment of myopia.Methods 962 eyes of 486 myopic patients were treated by OrthoKeratology(myopia-1.25--13.00D,astigmatism 0-2.00D),then were needed some routine examination before treatment and at 1 day,1,2 weeks,1,2,3 months after treatment,with adjustment of the treatment plan according to the situation.Results 468 eyes got optimal outcomes(48.65%),decentration in 482 eyes(50.1%),central corneal islands in 12 eyes(1.25%),and remake OrthoKeratology lenses for patients with bad correction following the prompts of corneal topography.Conclusion OrthoKeratology is one of the effective methods in the treatment of myopia,but good checkout equipment and adept professional skills are needed.Corneal topography plays an important role in the treatment,and is an indispensable tool in customizing lenses and during follow-up.
