Abstract

Objective To explore the expression of inhibitor of differentiation 2(Id2) mRNA in pelviureteric junction tissue in children with congenital pelviureteric junction obstruction(PUJO).Methods Twenty cases with PUJO and 10 cases with Wilms′ tumor without invading into pelviureteric junction tissue as control group were collected.PUJO group was categorized into 3 groups:renal pelvis dilation, narrow ureter and normal ureter below narrow ureter according to their locations.Control group was divided into 2 groups:renal pelvis and ureter.Semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression of Id2 mRNA in these tissues. Results PUJO group:no significant difference of the Id2 mRNA expression was observed between renal pelvis dilation and narrow ureter in PUJO group(P0.05),and their expressions were lower than that in the normal ureter below narrow ureter in PUJO group(Pa0.05).Control group:the expression of Id2 mRNA between the renal pelvis and ureter were similar(P0.05).PUJO group and control group:the Id2 mRNA expressions in renal pelvis dilation and narrow ureter in PUJO group were lower than that in renal pelvis and ureter in control group(Pa0.05).But the Id2 mRNA expressions in the normal ureter below narrow ureter in PUJO group were similar to that in renal pelvis or ureter in control group(Pa0.05).Conclusion The Id2 gene may play an important role in the pathogenesis of PUJO in children.
