Review of the Development and Condition Analysis of the Foreign Currency Reserves in China in the Past Three Decades

Ever since the reform and opening-up, China has undergone the process of inadequacy to excessiveness of foreign currency reserves. In this paper, the author points out that the excessive foreign currency reserves in the new era indicate the strengthening of the economic status of China in the world and the enhancement of the capacity of China in counteracting risks, and at the same time, they reflect the contradictions in Chinese financial system. On the basis of this, some measures to further perfect the financial market and foreign currency management system are presented, aiming to transfer the excessive foreign currency reserves from the nation to the countrymen and promote the scientific development of foreign currency reserves in China.
