On the Investigation into the Social Support of Family Education on Disabled Children

Special needs children's positive development depends on a good family education. According to the investigation into the parents of the special needs children in certain areas of Sichuan Province, the social support of family education rendered to special needs children, whether objective support or subjective support, especially the meso- and macro-level support, is comparatively limited. The micro-level support from family members and the meso-level support from special education institutions are the most important sources for the support of special needs children's parents. However, a system interlaced with social support has not come into existence. Therefore, it is suggested that based on the whole society's respect for the people with special needs, we attach importance to the cultivation of talents and the construction of special education institutions, build a system of the technical support of special education, and improve the system of social welfare and security, so as to promote the smooth development of special needs children and their families.
