Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of extragenetic bFGF on angiogenesis in infracted myocardium, and to study the characteristics of MR perfusion and the relation between expression of VEGF and capillary vessels. Methods Twenty four dogs were divided into control group and therapeutic group. Each group was studied on the 1 st day,the 3 rd day ,the 10 th day and the 17 th day .MR perfusion was performed on each dog within 3 hours after surgery and before euthanasia.VEGF and capillary vessels were evaluated by immunohistochemical technique. Results The number of capillary vessels in therapeutic group is much more than in control group except on the 1 st day.Campared with in control group, expression of VEGF is significantly increased in therapeutic group except on the 17 th day. There was no difference between TTC dyeing and MR perfusion in evaluating infarction size. Conclusion Intramuscular injection of bFGF is capable of promoting angiogenesis and reducing infarction size in a dog model of acute myocardial infarction.Expression of VEGF has a close relationship with angiogenesis.MR perfusion can potently evaluate myocardial perfusion and infarction size.
