Abstract
Objectives To find out changes of BMD in lumbar spines(LS) and femur of old men with the age increasing,to guide the prior osteoporosis diagnosis and the fracture occur in old men. Methods Measure BMD of lumbar spines and femur by DEXA (LUNAR company, U.S. A) for 512 old men (age 60y) at our out - patient department. The subjects were divided by age level to make statistics and analysis. Results BMD of different measure regions in LS and femur decrease with the age increasing, especially in femur. To BMD in LS, groups of 65 - 89 have a tendency to a higher level. The BMD in LS is much higher than that in femur in each group with significant difference (P0.001).Conclusions The measurement of BMD in femur is sensitiver than that in LS to diagnose senile male osteoporosis and forecast fracture. The BMD of Wards' s triangle is the most significant to demonstrate early the bone loss.
