Abstract

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of combined detection of tumor M2-Pyruvate Kinase(Tu M2-PK) and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) for lung cancer. Methods: Serum level of Tu M2-PK and CEA were determined in patients with 48 lung cancer,31 benign lung diseases and 30 healthy controls. Results: The serum levels of Tu M2-PK and CEA in patients with lung cancer were significantly higher than those in patients with benign lung diseases and healthy controls(P0.05).Tu M2-PK showed no significant difference in different pathologic types of lung cancer, and serum level of CEA was higher in adenocarcinoma than that in squamous cell carcinoma and small cell lung cancer(P0.05).Serum level of Tu M2-PK were significantly higher in patients with stage III and Ⅳ of lung cancer than that in patients with stage I and Ⅱ.The sensitivity in lung cancer diagnosis was 65% for Tu M2-PK alone and was 83% for combined detection of M2-PK and CEA.Conclusions: The serum level of Tu M2-PK is significantly elevated in lung cancer. The combined on detection of Tu M2-PK and CEA may improve the diagnostic rate of lung caner.
