An Assessment of Future Elderly Support Issues in Rural China

Abstract
China has witnessed the declining fertility since 1970s,in particular among rural areas.The declining number of children within family indicates that the challenge of elderly support from children will be great in rural areas.In theory,socialized elderly support system includes not only relief and old age insurance,but also social infrastructures for aged,community based service,and medical system.Therefore,in order to solve the rural elderly support in 21 century,the Chinese government should work out a more complete and operational plan for this issue.
