Abstract

23 cases of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) and 19 cases ofother soft tissue tumors were studied by immunohistochemical technique. The results showed that the highest positivity of AACT, AAT in MFH indicating these may be used as markers of malignant histiocytes and may give diagnostic aid. Lys is a poor marker of malignant histiocytes, while Des expression in some tumor cells was proposed to be a marker for differentiating into myofibroblasts, and Vim expression indicated differentiating into fibroblasts. Our results showed that MFH may be derived from undifferentiated mesen-chymal cells which developed into histiocytes, fibroblasts of myofibroblasts, thus exhibited a mixed histological feature.
