Returning Back to Literary Genre

Although literary genre has occupied a hegemonic role in the history of literary theory,it has been continually deconstructed since the 20 th century.Some western scholars,such as Benedetto Croce even deny the possibility of genre'existence.However,Tzvetan Todolov,Rene Wellek,Austin Warran,and Franco Moretti still emphasize the importance and urgency of returning back to genre.The genre can help us understand literariness and the experience of the literature world.It can be concluded that the genre is another existence of life.Marxists have never given up the research method of combining genre,society and history together,and have succeeded in the study of genre's origin and change,intertextuality and the construction of literary history.Nowadays,the development of semiotics affirms the common value of Marxism research model of genre.
