Abstract
This paper studies the convergence of regional economic growth in China by selecting geographic environment, inputs of productive, economic growth process and effects of policies as steady static factors. It is proved that there was not absolute convergence of regional economic growth in China during 1978 to 2008.However,there was distinct condition convergence of regional economic growth in China under the influence of inputs of productive factors or economic growth process separately, and the rate of convergence was 1.2 percent or 2.2 percent separately. On the other hand, there was no condition convergence under the influences of geographic environment or effects of policies. There was distinct condition convergence in China during 1978 to 2008 under the compositive influences of the above four steady state factors, and the rate of convergence was 1.4 percent. So,it is necessary for China to put more attentions on promoting industrialization,urbanization,market-oriented reformation, opening, information,as well as increasing the inputs of physical capital, labour forces, human capital and knowledge in order to control its regional economic disparities.
