Treatment of Olecranon Fractures by Internal Fixation with Plate

Objective To investigate the clinical results of open reduction and internal fixation in the treatment of olecranon fractures.Methods 36 cases of olecranon fractures were treated from January 2002 to February 2007 in our hospital.They were all treated by open reduction and plate fixation.Results All the patients were followed up from 7 to 20 months,with an average of 12 months.All the fractures heated.According to the criteria of Broberg and Morrey,the satisfactory rate was 94.4%.Conclusions Open reduction and plate internal fixation is an effective treatment option for olecranon fractures with good functional outcome and low incidence of complications.
