Abstract
Propeller Boss Cap Fins(PBCF) is a kind of propeller energy-saving devices. With the changing advance coefficient and the same parameters of PBCF,the open water performance of the DTMB P4119 propeller is simulated in Fluent. Comparing the results with and without PBCF, it is apparent that the propeller efficiency has been increased by 0.93%~2.86%. It can be seen from the vortex distribution map that the hub vortex has been reduced. Thus, the results show that the application of PBCF with a set of specific parameters to the DTMB P4119 propeller is feasible, and this method can significantly improve the efficiency of propeller and reduce energy consumption of the ship.
