Retroperitoneal lymphangioma in adults:Clinical analysis of 8 cases

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of retroperitoneal lymphangioma in adults.Methods The clinical data of 8 adult patients with retroperitoneal lymphangioma diagnosed by histological examination from August 1995 to March 2008 were reviewed and analyzed.Results All the patients were subjected to surgical treatment.The tumor of 6 cases was excised completely,and subtotal excision was performed on 2 cases.No recurrence occurred during the follow-up.Conclusion The clinical manifestations of retroperitoneal lymphangioma are no specific,and the preoperative diagnosis is difficult.Imaging examinations like CT can suggest the location and characters of tumor.Surgical excision is the choice for the treatment of retroperitoneal lymphangioma.
