Jin Shengtan' Criticism of The Western Chamber:From Romance Drama to Poetic Text

Abstract

By lyric rebuilding of the writing motive,pervasive interpretation of the theme and multi-dimensional reveal of aesthetic experience,Jin Shengtan' Criticism of The Western Chamber converts the original work from a pedestrian drama which recites a romantic story into a poetic text which reflects individual mental process and contains abundant and multi-dimensional emotion experiences.Hence the retune to the lyric tradition is realized.The criticism offers a typical case for us to understand the containing and permeating character of the lyric tradition of Chinese literature.
