Effect of Nitrogen Application on the Yield and Quality of Corn in Semi-arid Area of East Gansu

Abstract
The effect of nitrogen fertilizer on the yield and quality of corn was studied with three cultivars of corn and three application rates of N.The result shows as following:under designed application rate of N(0～225 kg/hm~2),the more N is applied,the higher the yield of corn is.With the increasing application rate of N,the protein yield increases 0.52 to 1.61 percentage points,and the protein yield increases 145.69 to 327.93 kg/hm~2.Different application rate of N has no significant effect on Lysine content of corn.Application rate of N and cultivars of corn together determine the protein content of corn.
