Clinical Significance of Platelet Indices in Immunologic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of the platelet indices in immunologic thrombocytopenic purpura.Method: The platelet indices-platelet count(PLT),plateletcrit(PCT),mean platelet volume(MPV)and platelet distribution width(PDW) were measured by Sysmex XE-2100 automated blood cell analyzer in three groups of people:patients with ITP(n=39),patients without ITP(n = 39) and healthy people(n= 39).Result: MPV and PDW increased in the second group of ITP(PLT10×109/L),which was significant different from contro1(P0.01).MPV and PDW increased evidently in the first group of ITP(PLT10×109/L).MPV increased earlier than PLT after therapy.Conclusion: The parameters for platelet may be useful indexs for diagnosing the patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.The observation of PLT parameters is important in the tracking effect of ITP.
