Expression of CXCR1 and CXCR2 in human oral squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of chemokine receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2 in human oral squamous cell carcinoma.Methods The expression of CXCR1and CXCR2 was examined by immunohistochemical method in 57 cases of human oral squamous cell carcinoma and 10 cases of normal lingual mucosa.Its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis was analyzed.Results The expression of CXCR1 and CXCR2 was detected in 41 cases(71.9%) and 35 cases(61.4%) of oral squamous cell carcinoma respectively.The expression of CXCR1was significantly associated with tumor grade,clinical staging and lymph node metastasis;the expression of CXCR2 was significantly associated with clinical staging and lymph node metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma.Conclusion CXCR1 and CXCR2 might be associated with the development of oral squamous cell carcinoma.These two receptors are potential biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
