Abstract

Objective To explore the preoperative and postoperative treatments of aged patients with carcinoma of the esophagus and cardia.Mechods With the exact definition of the operational indication and the severe preoperational evaluation, the preoperative preparation and postoperative treatments were sufficient. Results In this group, cases were cured with operation in time which decreased the risk of periopetation. After operation,36 cases suffered complications(25.9%),and 3 cases died(2.2%).Conclusion The aged patients with esophageal and cardiac carcinoma were often associated with multiorgan diseases. So sufficient preoperative preparation, close perioperative observation and active therapy are important for reducing postoperative comlications and promoting successful rate of surgical operation.
